Second Quarter

Question of the Day
Can the Falcons win the NFC South?

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Kyle Orton is 18-3 as a starter at home, Denver is 5-0 and they beat the Patriots while waering peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie uniforms. The Kermit the Frog neon mess in Seattle was enough for me. What the hell possessed the NFL to dress the Broncos in those horrendous throwback uniforms? The socks alone were hard on my eyes. How can you have hot football players dressed as cookies? Ok this isn’t the Project Runway blog so I’ll stop there. Now, back to business. All I have to say is that it looks like the “big trade” may have worked out for the Bears and the Broncos. No one saw this coming but stranger things have happened in the NFL.

Good Rex, Bad Rex
Braylon Edwards put on a spectacular show in Miami but it wasn’t enough to stop those feisty Dolphins. The Wildcat was in full effect and after 5 lead changes the Fins were able to come out on top. I was little surprised that Rex’s defense couldn’t feed off of Mark Sanchez, Braylon Edwards and the Jets’ explosive offense. The Jet’s defense gave up way too many big plays and at times they looked like a completely different unit. Well, I guess Rex has some work to do. The Jets are lucky that the Pats lost on Sunday because the AFC East Division title race is still up for grabs.

When Birds Attack
Philly is still riding under the radar in the NFC. The Giants, Saints and Vikings are all 5-0 but Philly is right there. Sure, McNabb and Westbrook are always hurt but somehow Philly finds a way to win. The Eagles have made five NFC Championship Game appearances in the past eight years. However, they can’t seem to get over the big hump. They made one Super Bowl appearance in 2004 but lost to the Patriots. It’s been a great ten years for McNabb and Andy Reid but a Super Bowl would be the icing on the cake. This time of year we think that we all have it figured out. The Vikings are going all the way or the Saints and Drew Brees are unstoppable, yada, yada, yada. Philly is coming out in full force this year and when birds attack you better run for your life. Yes, I’m talking to you Tony Romo.

Don’t Call it a Hasselback
I guess the kid still has it. Hasselback and the Hawks shutout the Jags 41-0 on Sunday and I’m frickin’ impressed. Hey, anyone can handle a bruised rib these days. Personally, I’m just glad that he’s back. There is always a special place in my heart for talented QBs. Wait, I’m a Bears fan and I hate Seattle. That’s the end this post.
